Position Title: Food Scientist II
Apply food science knowledge to determine and standardize best practices to process, package, preserve, store, and distribute food products; perform studies to improve aspects of the food product, such as chemical composition, flavor, color, texture, and nutritional value.
Analyze product content to determine levels of vitamins, fat, sugar, and protein; develop product specifications and nutritional data (with Genesis).
Formulate recipe for new product based on customer requirements and perform laboratory scale sample runs; conduct the sensory and chemical analysis of the sample and make necessary changes in formulation and processing parameters to achieve the target product.
Conduct pilot run and plant trial run with Production and standardize the batching and processing procedure; assist Production in solving the formulation/processing related issues.
Working cross-functional with different departments, develop new formulation and new products, or improve existing products.
Develop the Organic Program; maintain program database; manage organic product application documents.
Design and conduct the Shelf-life study (in-house & 3rd party) of new product based on customer’s request.
Evaluate food processing and storage operations and assist in the development of quality assurance programs; assist QA in developing SOPs, policies and procedures, and 3rd party or customer audits.
Inspect laboratory and other food processing areas to ensure compliance with government regulations and standards for sanitation, safety, quality, and waste management.
Master’s degree in Food Science or related. Courses taken in Food Product Development, Sensory Evaluation, and Quality Management.
2 years’ experience working as Food Scientist or Product Development Scientist.
